File sizes: |
- All house WRL files must be gzipped. This will allow
the world to download faster.
(gzip is available as freeware, most modeling tools will
automatically gzip the VRML if export settings are
proper).
- All resources (this includes UM textures) and the house WRL itself must
not exceed
300kb. No texture file should exceed 40kb maximum file
size. This file size does not include the thumbnail image.
|
|
|
|
Authorship: |
- DH requires that the wrl file uploaded be the builder's own
copyrighted work. In instances where other builders are involved, all
other builders involved must send to the DH Inbox a message confirming
their participation in the work, & authorizing DH to accept the world in
their name as well. If those additional builders provide DH with an
email address, copies of assessments will also be sent to them.
- Only builders who are current (covering the period from upload to
acceptance) members of CT may upload to DH. If a builder (or any of the
builders involved) ceases to be a member of CT during the 'upload to
acceptance' period, the world will be disqualified from consideration.

Thematic Content & Other General
Issues: |
- All content to be acceptable within the current City
Constitution and other rules and regulations as
published within Cybertown as well as the
Graphics and Objects Content Guidelines. (Remember
this is still a family oriented chat place).
- While not required, it is possible for the
world builder to include objects within his or her
house. Many citizens however, would prefer to furnish
their own homes.
- As in all world building, the style of the home is
up to the individual creating it. It is possible to
create a house that is not a house, rather an open
terrain or forest, etc.
- The house must contain info in the World Info
pertaining to the house name, copyright info for the
creator and date.
- While there is no maximum to the # of viewpoints in a
world we do request you have a minimum of 3
strategically placed viewpoints at points of interest in
your world.
- Houses require a mandatory House description to be
entered upon upload.
|
|
|
|
Optimization: |
- The houses should be optimized and performant.
- Houses created shall use standard methods of
optimization currently available.
(either hand-coded or through the use of
Chisel,
WebChisel
or
VRMLpad optimization options).
- Proper utilization of Universal Media
textures is highly encouraged. Universal Media
when used properly is downloaded and cached just once,
though it may be used in many worlds. A texture can not
just be used from the UM collection and then said to be
UM; it must use the caching mechanisms involved with UM.
- DEF/USE or references are encouraged. Massive use of
DEF/USE is discouraged. As an example 1,000 instances of
DEF/USE would be unacceptable. This is for performance
reasons. The user's machine has to do a lot of work to
calculate where all those parts go.
- Maximum polygon count for the house should be under
65,000 polygons, determined by using the F7 key while in
the world. This is a good method for the house checker(s)
to use also. Again, we are concerned about the
performance of the world on the end users machine. Not
everyone has a high end graphics card and we wish
everyone to be able to enjoy your creation. Common sense
use of polygons encouraged (too many unneeded polygons
should be avoided)

|
|
Home pricing: |
- To be established by the creator upon uploading.
(maximum price is 9999cc).
- There are no upload costs.
- At this time the creator receives 100% of the
profits from his/her home.
|
|
PLEASE NOTE:
|
- *After discussion with ComTech, no CT Standard houses will
be accepted as of June 12th 0001h 2003.
- *Worlds accepted in the suburbs or for a club will NOT be
accepted in Designer Homes.

Interim Upload
Rules: |
- Creators may submit one world for
consideration at a time. When that world is accepted DH will
consider another world unless the artist decides to abandon
the world in which case they may do so provided they notify
DH of that intent. Creators are asked to give Designer Homes
an email address upon upload to the DH Inbox in order to
receive a Quality Assessment report if the DH Staff deems
one necessary. If you receive an
assessment please take the time to go over the it carefully
& make certain that you address all of the
issues in your rebuilding. The issues identified are required changes unless otherwise specified - for
example, on occasion we make suggestions which are clearly
noted as suggestions.

|
|
PLEASE NOTE: Designer Homes reserves the right to reject any
home which does not meet esthetic & construction standards
as determined by the Designer Homes Staff. |
